For use where the experimental process can cause corrosion, or where metals in the vessel can have an effect on results, we have designed and produced several fermenter vessels which have no stainless steel parts in contact with the media. All such parts are made either from glass or PEEK™ (Polyetherether Ketone).
1000 litre bioreactor for bioremediation work
We produced a 1000 litre bioreactor for bioremediation work where sterilisation is generally not necessary, using a glass fibre tank with a polypropylene lining. The vessel was still fitted with standard fermentation controls, stirrer system with measurement and control of temperature, pH and oxygen. The use of glass fibre for the tank enabled us to reduce the cost considerably.
